Position Summary:
The Associate Scientist will have a key role in the Molecular Biology Analytics (MBA) group, primarily supporting Biologics Process Development in New Jersey. Specifically, the role will provide timely molecular analytical support for multiple biological programs and further enhance the capabilities of the MBA group. The role will be based in the New Brunswick, New Jersey location, and may be eligible for a hybrid work model.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Maintaining an accurate and current laboratory notebook
- Generating and analyzing data characterizing the integrity, integration number, gene copy number, transcript quality, and variants arising from the expression cassette used to generate cell lines of interest
- Identifying the tolerance limits of the present platform, determining strategies to make improvements in the technology and processes
- Troubleshooting assays
- Assessing and implementing novel molecular technologies to improve current platform processes for cell line performance and characterization
- Identifying and developing new technologies and processes for constructing and enhancing the performance of cell lines destined for biological manufacturing
- Helping to author and review MBA technical reports
- Maintaining collaborative interactions with Research & Development, Process Development, and Manufacturing groups
- Maintaining state-of-the-art knowledge, presenting at meetings, and publishing results
Qualifications & Experience
- B.S. with preferably 2-4 years or M.S. with 0-2 years of relevant experience
- A developed knowledge of the principles and concepts of molecular biology
- Experience in molecular biology techniques, particularly in DNA and RNA isolation, their manipulation, and plasmid cloning
- Experience in Next Generation Sequencing is very helpful
- Ability to design and execute experiments based on protocols
- Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices to maintain sample purity and integrity in an aseptic environment
- Effective oral and written communication capabilities
