The Assembly Production Lead is responsible for supervising all non-exempt personnel in the warehouse as well as aspects of warehouse processing including but not limited to: Receiving, Shipping, Kit Building, Labeling and Boxing as well as any reporting or rework required. Other responsibilities include training new personnel, personnel performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with all required training.
What will you be doing?
- Coordinate processes and projects aimed in improvement of material flow in assigned area of plant operations.
- Administer and monitor practices in the areas of safety, quality, cost, housekeeping, and delivery targets for a production area.
- Prioritize/handle orders on the floor to improve lead time and mix attainment achievement.
- Monitor, communicate, and track the progress of vital metrics.
- Prepare manufacturing production reports as required.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to prevent manufacturing issues, improve quality yields, and improve process.
- Collaborate with Team Members to coordinate production flow.
- Assist manager/supervisor to maintain standard 5S condition in the area with emphasis in area that are 5S certified.
- Perform process audit to the assigned department.
- Assist supervisor in facilitating fast change-over helping to plan and retrieve raw material, gauges and tools.
- Assist with tasks or projects because of a Good Save
- Coordinate support from raised issues from shop floor
- Communicate process issues and provides status updates to supervisor and to team member of the off shift.
- Attend all required training as assigned.
- Support Team Member compliance with Smith and Nephew Inc. policies and procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks as required.
- Maintain sound ergonomic judgment while maintaining job rotation schedules.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with Team Members.
- Interact with others to accelerate decision on quality issues.
- Position requires the ability to work overtime in excess of 40 hours per week when needed.
- Meet all other requirements as assigned.
What will you need to be successful?
- High School or Trade School Graduate (or GED) minimum.
- Minimum 2-5 years manufacturing experience.
- Able to work flexible hours on a weekly basis to provide support to the team.
- Supervise direct reports while performing their own warehouse duties.
- Knowledge of ISO, FDA and QSR concepts and guidelines preferred.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a positive and collaborative manner.
- Communicate both written and verbally with Engineers, Managers and other support staff.
- Proven ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines and handle multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of various MS Office applications such as: Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience with SAP strongly preferred.
- Experience with Windchill preferred.
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequently required to walk, bend, lift, push, load, unload, and carry materials and products up to 50lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include vision for inspection of finished products.
- Good manual dexterity required.
