This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our dynamic Therapeutics Development & Supply (TDS) API team in Cork to provide data science support during process development, scale up, technical transfer, clinical manufacture and process validation. The successful candidate will be responsible for identification, planning, execution and sustaining of data science projects in collaboration with our scientists to drive value from actionable insights and support data-driven decision making within our department.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: identification, planning and execution of data science projects in collaboration with TDS API scientists and management ensuring successful delivery and alignment to business goals and value
- Data Analysis: perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) & statistical analysis to support investigations and process improvements transforming data into actionable insights including adoption of data management best practices for data collection and cleaning ensuring data quality and integrity for analysis
- Model Development: design, test and deploy chemometric and multivariate models supporting monitoring, predictive and prescriptive (process control) use cases & manage models across their lifecycle
- Documentation: document processes, methodologies, findings and reports which support our data science initiatives
- Performance Monitoring: monitor deployed model performance over time, identify and implement improvements as required
- Training & Mentorship: provide guidance and mentorship to junior data scientists and other TDS API team members as required
- Innovation: Stay up to date with latest developments in data science, machine learning and AI, identify and advocate for continuous improvements in our data science methodologies and approaches
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field, advanced degree is preferred.
- 1 years' experience within a regulated biologics or pharma industry
- Solid understanding of mathematical & statistical modelling methodologies, including practical applications for same within biological processes
- Excellent programming skills, e.g. proficiency with SQL, Python, R or similar coding languages
- Excellent communication, skills, both oral and written with the ability to communicate complex concepts including the value from Data Science projects clearly to both technical and non-technical partners
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to work well independently and within a dynamic team environment
- Strategic thinking- ability to critically analyse business goals and align data science initiatives to these goals, including pragmatic adoption of emerging technologies such as AI
- Advanced root cause problem solving and process optimisation skills and a continuous improvement / growth mindset
Preferred:
- An understanding of biological processes is desired but not essential
- Knowledge and experience with PAT technologies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, large language models etc is also an advantage
