We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Global Communications Manager R&D to join us in our Global Corporate Communication, preferably based in our office in Braine l’Alleud or Brussels, in Belgium.
About the role
As the Global Communications Manager, reporting to the Global Head of Patient Solutions Communications, you will play a crucial role in elevating UCB’s scientific reputation among diverse internal and external stakeholders. You will co-create and execute the global communication strategy for Patient Solutions (Research and Development), working closely with both agencies and internal teams. Your focus will be on delivering a multi-channel, integrated communication plan that highlights UCB's scientific innovation and talent. In this dynamic role, you'll have a direct impact on UCB’s strategic initiatives and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across the organization.
What you’ll do
- Co-develop and execute Patient Solutions communications aligned with UCB’s corporate objectives and PR strategy.
- Support senior UCB scientists in media activities, events, and employee engagement programs.
- Manage PR agencies, ensuring alignment with other vendors and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with global and local communications teams and cross-functional departments.
- Oversee project timelines, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are on time.
- Manage budgets and assess the effectiveness of communication programs.
- Oversee UCB's internal review process, ensuring compliance with feedback and deadlines.
- Maintain scientific knowledge and understand policy issues impacting R&D communications.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience within a PR agency healthcare business unit or on corporate pharmaceutical side. A degree in science would be an asset.
- Established track record of delivering integrated and impactful internal and external communications programmes across multiple channels and stakeholders, with demonstrable measures of success.
- Experience of building scientific/technical brands and shaping reputations across multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to combine creative, strategic thinking with hands on delivery.
- Strong research, written and oral communication skills in English; ability to prepare communication materials from start to finish.
- Knowledgeable on marketing/business strategies/regulatory framework and the ability to effectively describe and promote the company.
- Experience of R&D /pipeline communications and motivated and inspired by the science is a plus.
- Media relations and social media expertise is a must.
- Team player, preferably used to work in complex or matrix organizations, used to have a remote manager
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
