Our “Specials” manufacturing division make a range of licensed and unlicensed medicinal products - from creams and ointments to suspensions and solutions. We're looking to add a Production Team Leader to this busy and fast-paced team.
As a Production Team Leader your responsibilities will include, although not limited to:
- Help to plan bulk productions against current staffing levels and communicate with the Operations Manager & Customer Service Department with lead times which must then be adhered to
- Constantly monitor stock levels, planning in time for production of stock to ensure a high proportion of all orders are filled with pre-manufactured stock.
- Communicate with other departments to ensure queries are resolved in real time thus ensuring output is optimal.
- Liaise with the Production Management to improve efficiency; this may include suggestions on significant equipment purchases which will require a funding decision.
- Monitor staffing levels against orders and communicate with the Operations Manager if demand requires additional staffing.
- Conduct in-process checks of productions, ensuring clearance, approval etc. are completed according to GMP rules for all staff to allow for maximum efficiency.
- Ensure that all staff have a training plan in in place and that each Production Technician is working towards the next level; this will require checking of training records and monitoring of the SOP reading matrix.
- Have a hands on approach that involves taking on production duties to assist where required.
- Assist in planning and coordinating work for all Production Technicians on a daily and weekly basis, this requires balancing the bespoke, bulk and sale from stock orders as well as and stock manufacturing and trials.
- Ensure that all activities are conducted according to HSE requirements and implementing any points raised in a HSE inspection.
- Supervise Production Technicians to ensure production at the highest quality standards according to set procedures. EHS, GMP and hygiene standards of the team will be the responsibility of the Production Team Leader.
- Ensure that all equipment is in a good state of repair and organize maintenance with Production Management as required.
- Ensure that all relevant SOPs and trainings are up-to-date to ensure smooth operation of the production facility.
- Conduct reporting on the team performance and Production Technicians to Production Management.
To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate:
- GMP production experience is essential and some demonstrable evidence of leading a team of production operators.
- Good literacy and numerical skills.
- Efficient IT skills (Microsoft Teams).
- Process and procedure driven.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Ideally the candidate will be educated to a degree standard with a science-based degree especially in a Chemistry or Pharmaceutical discipline or significant experience in GMP production leadership role.
- Enthusiastic leadership approach with the ability to mentor and train.
- Able to communicate and motivate coherently – both verbally and via written. Understands the principles of manufacturing and has strong management skills. Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills are essential.
