This is a great opportunity for a highly experienced technical Manager with an engineering background to lead and manage the operations of a cutting-edge Transcatheter Heart Valve R&D lab. This role will oversee a team of skilled technologists and ensure the successful execution of diverse lab testing and operational activities. The role includes maintaining and managing state-of-the-art cardiovascular testing equipment, ensuring strict adherence to safety and compliance standards, and driving technical excellence in a collaborative environment. By partnering with cross-functional teams, the Manager will provide leadership in resource allocation, process optimization, and innovation to support the development of advanced cardiovascular devices and achieve key business objectives.
How you'll make an impact:
Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor a team of technologists, providing coaching, technical guidance, and feedback to enhance team performance and technical capabilities. Ensure clear delegation of tasks and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Operational Oversight: Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily lab operations to support diverse R&D projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, equipment, and personnel. Oversee the procurement, calibration, and maintenance of lab tools and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Project Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align lab support with project objectives. Track project progress and ensure timely delivery of assigned deliverables while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure all lab activities comply with safety guidelines and standard operating procedures. Proactively address potential risks and implement measures to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
Technical Expertise: Provide hands-on technical support and direction for lab testing, including troubleshooting complex engineering issues and optimizing testing methodologies to meet project requirements.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance lab efficiency and productivity. Lead initiatives to expand testing capabilities and adapt to evolving business needs.
What you'll need (Required):
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and 6+ years of experience in a technical or engineering role within a lab or medical device R&D setting.
Masters degree in engineering or a related field and 5+ years of experience in a technical or engineering role within a lab or medical device R&D setting.
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience, with a proven ability to manage teams

Extensive knowledge of R&D equipment and lab operations, including testing protocols and quality standards.
Demonstrated ability to manage lab staff and resources to meet project and business objectives.
Knowledge of financial acumen, including budgeting for lab equipment and operational costs.
Experience in cardiovascular or medical device testing, including hemodynamic and durability assessments.
Basic Skills:
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical abilities, with strong attention to detail.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills for negotiating, relationship management, and driving results.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technical systems related to lab operations.
Ability to mentor team members, foster collaboration, and build trust within a multidisciplinary environment.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $115,000 to $163,000 (highly experienced).
