Process & Systems Engineering Associate (Cryogenics)
Report to Process and Systems Director - Cryogenics (E&C Houston office)
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Meet or exceed the company’s safety standards
Comply with E&C Global and Local engineering standards and other industry standards
Work as a team member either with local and/or with international team members
Perform works as a process or solution development or systems personnel and contribute in solution/product development and/or service projects
Understand the needs of customers and design with the resources of Global E&C the most competitive, comprehensive and optimized cryogenic or air-gas solution
Participate in developing process design basis for proposals
Perform process calculation (e.g. pressure profile, process simulation, line sizing) using in-house tools
Generate and deliver process deliverables (e.g. material and utility balance, equipment sizing, process description, process flow diagram PFD, block flow diagram BFD, process datasheets, P&IDs)
Understand and implement plant design philosophy (e.g. winterization, derime, pressure circuits) as needed
Provide feedback and inputs to the Request For Proposal (RFP) of the customer
Support development of the freedom to operate (FTO) for the process solution and study patents as required
Contribute to the studies/solutions in both technical and cost knowledge
Contribute to vendor information evaluation for main equipment
Attend and contribute to any review meetings (internal/external) and complete action items
Contribute to in-house process database
Understand and implement capitalization and improvement ideas from previous projects / commissioning /operations issues
Participate in improving the engineering practices, guidelines and/or procedures when applicable
Support site construction activities, start-up, performance test and/or plant troubleshooting
Learn required AL technologies as needed on assignments

Qualifications
Mandatory
B.S. in Chemical Engineering Or Mechanical Engineering
Very good knowledge in thermodynamics
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Strong customer-centric mindset
Proactive to learn
Proactive to support and contribute to Air Liquide's diversity and inclusion initiatives
Short term travel locally or internationally is required depending on the assigned work tasks
Preferred
B.S. in Chemical Engineering
At least 2-5years of industrial engineering experience
Knowledge of industrial gas plants
Knowledge of the process development and design (cryogenic industrial gas plants)
Understanding of various vendor equipment and instrumentation used in industrial gas plant processes
Knowledge of project development and/or execution as relating to Process and P&IDs scope
Licensed EIT (Engineer In Training)
Knowledge of HYSYS®/or Aspen Plus software
Proficient in German and/or French languages
Work Schedule
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $80,000 - $95,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Air Liquide considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
