KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
The VP, Engineering will strategically innovate, develop and lead the implementation of new process technology (e.g., implants, delivery systems and accessories) innovation resulting in robust, sustainable, manufacturing processes while improving Quality, Reliability, Process Capability and/or Environmental Health and Safety with a focus on supplier and component development.
More specifically, the VP, Engineering will:
- Direct activities of multiple sub-functions in a high functioning entrepreneurial team through lower management levels while establishing strategy, developing corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizing their implementation.
- Develop a robust strategic talent development and succession planning in alignment with functional growth strategies across the global organization.
- Plan and direct multiple strategic, enterprise-level projects with highest criticality including prioritizing and selecting appropriate projects.
- Set overall global strategy including efforts to optimize processes by assessing needs and developing, proposing and leading implementations.
- Ensure cross-functional team leaders are engaged to the plans and to ensure alignment (e.g., R&D, pilot manufacturing, commercial manufacturing plants, and suppliers) with overall Edwards strategy.
- Analyze, formulate and present recommendations to advise and guide executive level leadership; develop and deliver executive level communication across functions that impact multiple areas of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 12 years’ experience in medical device or related industry. Exposure to complex regulated markets, R&D, new product development, and sustained commercialization efforts.
- Experience with new product development processes, including design for manufacturing and assembly in a commercial operation.
- Preferred advanced technical expertise in handling complex supplier tiers and the ability to influence direct and sub-tier suppliers.
- Experience with multiple core technologies (e.g. metals, resins, complex catheters, chemicals, etc)
- Experience managing interactions with contract manufacturing suppliers and understanding quality validation.
- Proven experience in supplier development engineering with the ability to develop seamless supply chains integrating design and manufacturing processes.
- Preferred experience in addition to new product development engineering, has also worked in at least one other discipline across the supply chain.
- Proven ability to optimize global operational processes, lead end-to-end processes that ensure financial alignment with corporate objectives and demonstrate measurable value in technical processes.
- Demonstrated success effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams driving innovative solutions. Strong business acumen and ability to ensure financial alignment with corporate objectives and demonstrate value in technical processes.
- Exposure to enterprise-level project management, prioritizing high-impact global strategies with broad stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to interact internally and externally with executive level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters; influences policymaking.
- Experience managing global teams and ensuring efficient collaboration between remote locations and headquarters.
- Proven executive-level leadership with the ability to influence the broader organization and inspire cross-functional and international teams.
- Effectively communicates a cohesive vision to employees and stakeholders at all levels. Proven success building cohesive teams and holding them accountable. Inspires others to action and sets clear direction
- Can provide an example of leading an organization and/or a team through a successful enterprise system and related solutions implementation.
- Hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” mindset with the ability to be a driver and change agent in an organization. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.
- Polished leader with strong executive presence and effective communication skills. Proven ability to gain buy-in and collaborate within a matrixed organization, across product lines and with external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to foster innovation while managing cultural and operational differences across global teams.

TRAVEL: up to 20% Ability to travel internationally
EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree is required, with preference in a related field to engineering disciplines. Advanced degrees (MS, PhD) strongly preferred.
