Job Summary:
The Endoscopy R&D Design Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated R&D Engineer to join our team. The person in this role will provide mechanical engineering design support for new product development, working with a range of product lines. A key team member that, under some supervision/guidance of our subject matter experts, will provide design solutions and technical support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, SolidWorks, drafting, and technical print review, as well as understanding of injection molding and finite elements analysis.
Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design: Design mechanisms, fixtures, as well as components for injection molding. Apply principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analysis, and metrology. Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing processes.

Drafting and Technical Print Review: Create and review technical prints, ensuring adherence to drafting rules and standards. Conduct print reviews for technical accuracy and compliance.

Finite Elements Analysis (FEA): Perform FEA related to design using ANSYS and/or similar software to analyze and optimize mechanical components and systems.
Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills and very capable working with diverse groups of engineers.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong mechanical design skills, including experience with mechanisms, fixtures, and design for injection molding.

Very skilled in the use of CAD and EPDM systems (e.g. SolidWorks Design Software and SolidWorks ePDM)

Proven experience in drafting and technical print review.

Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and metrology.

Proficiency in FEA software such as ANSYS.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a highly regulated industry e.g., medical device

Experience in design for manufacturing and familiarity with various manufacturing processes.

Certification in GD&T.
