Job Description Summary
Provides technical expertise for mechanics and oversees preventative maintenance program as well as day to day maintenance activities. Requires working expertise in all areas of the plant, specifically APAP, PAP, and Utilities. Also requires working expertise in essential mechanical disciplines including hydraulics, pneumatics, pipefitting, power transmissions, welding, and precision machine work.
Job Description
- Ensures all mechanic shift and plant resource needs are covered.
- Provides on the job training and mechanical skill evaluation.
- Creates machine specific work instructions and PM procedures.
- Provides ideas and solutions for equipment improvements. Show emphasis on the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and use of mechanical equipment throughout the facility. Confer with engineers, supervisor, and other technical workers to assist with equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
- Supports and participate in training programs.
- Responsible for good housekeeping in the shop, and at the job site
Extra field resource as required which may include but is not limited to:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair process equipment.
- Interface and work with OEM's and vendors as necessary.
- Accurately complete all work performed according to SOP’s and work instructions, including proper documentation. Complete work orders using CMMS. Maintain detailed work and maintenance records; prepare written reports; and complete maintenance work order reports.
- Continuously strives to improve their personal safety performance. Support and participate in site safety and training programs. Improving team understanding, skills, and knowledge of the whole spectrum of activities ranging from basic mechanical functions to advanced practice, including hazardous areas, data communications along with a vast array of mechanical equipment.
- Promotes/leads failure analysis process by discussing the causes of equipment failure with the maintenance engineer or Supervisor.
- Accurately completes all required paperwork.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
- Assists maintenance engineer or maintenance supervisor in identifying opportunities for improving equipment reliability.
- Must have the ability to recognize problems independently and to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment without direct supervision.
- Supports and actively participates in PM/PDM program. Maintain and develop maintenance work instructions, job plans, PM’s, and assets.
- Have flexible working hours.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education required/ preferred:
High School Diploma / Technical diploma in the mechanical field. Willingness to pursue NCCER Industrial Maintenance Certification.
Experience:
Extensive mechanical experience
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Work as a industrial mechanic, welding skills
Skills/Competencies:
Be able to read measuring tape, calipers, blue prints, read and follow work instructions
Other Skills:
Experience with CMMS such as MP2 or Maximo
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
- Responsibility for Tools/ Equipment:
- Utilizes a variety of test instruments, hand tools, supplies and other shop equipment on a daily basis. On occasion, it may be required to take tools to the work area in the plant.
- Responsibility for Material Product:
- Indirectly responsible for amount and quality of product through the maintenance and repair of production instrumentation and controls. A thorough understanding of GMP is critical.
- Responsibility for the Safety of Others:
- Significant responsibility. Improperly repaired equipment could possibly result in safety hazards to plant personnel.
- Responsibility for the Work of Others:
- Direct responsibility does exist for the work of others, additionally adherence to the team concept requires mutual assistance in some jobs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Lead Maintenance Mechanics are required to work in all areas of the plant site, both inside and outside. There may be exposure to warm areas, dirt, oil, grease, chemicals/chemical fumes, and noise.
- Dangers such as sharp edges, pinch points, chemical and temperature burns, lifting, and electricity are often present. On occasions, and when required, protective clothing must be worn.
- May be required to wear a full-face respirator contingent upon required job duties.
- Physical Demands:
- Routinely lifts and carries objects of 50 pounds or less in weight. Must be able to go up and down several flights of steps on occasion. May be required to exert effort to pull control valves, loosen bolts, or move controls and instrumentation.
