We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist 2 to join the Mimix R&D team based in Cambridge UK. The candidate will contribute to the development of novel cell line derived reference material. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist with interest in genetics, oncology and diagnostics. This is a lab-based role, the candidate should be self-motivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment and with shifting priorities.
As a Senior Scientist you are expected to independently run multiple projects, to provide scientific guidance to more junior colleagues, and apply your knowledge and problem-solving skills to influence research. The candidate should be able to conduct high quality and complex research while being aware of external development related to oncology and neonatal testing. The senior scientist should also participate in cross-functional teams and function as a project lead when required. As part of the R&D team the candidate will be actively presenting posters and talks in international scientific conferences and should be able to develop an internal and external network.
Key Responsibilities
Independently design, plan, analyse and troubleshoot research projects. Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse data in context of wider project.
Proactively contributes to the development of new offerings and influence research strategy of the department. Developing innovative solutions in relation to reference material.
Design and perform experiments independently with minimal supervision, in accordance with project plans.
Analyse and interpret experimental data; troubleshoot, discuss results, identify next steps, and the escalation of key data.
Contribute to ideas and help shape future project direction
Prepare high quality data packages, reports, conference presentations, etc, clearly disseminating the results of the work to internal stakeholders and external partners
Maintain an awareness of the current techniques/technologies and apply these to develop reference materials.
Be an effective team member in supporting the research and development functions in Revvity
Essential Competencies & Requirements
A Ph.D. in a relevant field (such as cell biology/genetics/molecular biology or a closely related field) with minimum 5 years post-doc or industry experience
Experience with DNA/RNA and molecular biology technologies including NGS
Extensive cell culture experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent troubleshooting and ability to adapt quickly to evolving priorities
Desirable Competencies & Requirements
Experience working within ISO or GMP regulations.
