JOB TITLE: Lead Software Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
Under broad supervision, serves as the primary technical vision keeper and leader for software project teams, driving code design, delivery, and project completion through hands-on leadership and mentoring. Works closely with Software Architects, Software Systems Engineers, Software Quality Leads, and Software Project Managers to ensure technical excellence and successful project delivery. Responsible for managing development practices, code quality, and technical enablement while maintaining active involvement in product roadmap planning and cross-functional coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Serves as the primary keeper and designer of the project technical vision, maintaining focus on the product's big picture while defining and driving technical enablement work
- Plans and establishes product roadmaps and timelines, working with leads to drive project estimates and create realistic schedules
- Breaks down technical work appropriately, driving design and implementation of features across multiple teams and domains (e.g., application/embedded integration)
- Provides hands-on guidance in design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of complex software systems
- Leads and mentors development teams in implementing complex software solutions while fostering best practices and technical growth
- Manages and grooms product backlogs, helping create and define low level requirements while ensuring proper prioritization of technical and functional requirements
- Acts as primary or secondary software point-of-contact for cross-functional teams, participating in bug reviews and Software Review Boards
- Performs and delegates code reviews for complex features, establishing and maintaining high quality standards
- Identifies and raises risks proactively while reducing roadblocks and other impediments for the team
- Contributes code as project needs arise, while maintaining focus on project coordination and delivery
- Ensures technical excellence through management of development practices and code quality standards
- Defines and implements software development best practices aligned with organizational standards
- Drives modernization of software development processes including the adoption of new technologies and methodologies in alignment with architectural vision
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of software development experience.
- Must have experience with mission critical applications, preferably medical products or devices.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Software Development Lifecycle preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading development teams and mentoring junior developers.
- Extensive web application development experience using modern technology stacks (e.g., C#/.NET, Angular/React, relational/non-relational databases)
- Proven track record in modernizing software development processes and implementing architectural visions.
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems requiring regular use of ingenuity and creativity
- Strong background in software architecture principles and patterns
- Excellence in technical leadership and team mentoring
- Expert knowledge of Scrum development practices and backlog management
- Experience with pre-design analysis and feature runway planning for complex features
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and domains (e.g. application / embedded integration)
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and guide technical decisions
- Expert knowledge of C# and object-oriented programming principles and patterns
- Strong proficiency in front-end development frameworks such as Angular or React, including state management and component design
- Advanced understanding of database technologies including design, optimization, and management of both relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational (MongoDB, Redis) databases
- Ability to execute on architectural vision and translate it into actionable development plans

Target Pay Range: $124,100.00 to $155,100.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 10.0%
