Responsibilities
- Responsible for implementation of new and updating/improving EHS Industrial programs and policies to ensure that they meet BMS standards and comply with Swiss and local regulatory requirements.
- Support the implementation of programs such as chemical exposure assessment, Hearing protection, respiratory protection, ergonomics assessment, Biosafety Assessment, Radiation, and laser safety programs in manufacturing settings.
- Proactive engagement and collaboration with stakeholders across the site.
- Participates in continuously improving site EHS culture through training and people engagement.
- Provide technical acumen and oversight to all on-site Environmental EOHSS programs and activities.
- Participates and supports EHS operational and tier discussions, EHS committees and teams, and EHS self-assessments and audits.
- Prepare and execute the sites Industrial Hygiene Plan
- Stops operations and activities that could harm the environment, workforce, or facilities.
- Identifies and implements solutions to eliminate workplace hazards using a hierarchy of control.
- Provide field support during workplace sampling, Fit testing, incident investigation, and tier meeting participation.
- Gain experience and expertise to fully use and implement various EHS platforms, including investigation, inspection, and compliance modules.
- Executes recordkeeping/reports at national, state, and province levels and within BMS stipulated structures and timing.
- Brings new approaches to continually improve the effectiveness of workflows and processes and learn and apply new concepts.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of applicable Environmental and Safety Legislation and experience with Environmental and the Health and Safety Authority
- Knowledge, experience and proven track record with the design and execution of environmental and safety programs in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge and experience with the design and execution of EHS risk assessments.
- Extensive Incident Investigation and Corrective and Preventative Action skill set
- Must maintain proficiency in all BMS EHS technical standards.
- Ability to flex with change and handle multiple priorities with a sense of calm
- Operate with a high degree of integrity and transparency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proclivity for partnership and cross-team collaboration
- Good organizational skills, self-motivated, proven ability to work independently
- 4 to 5 years of experience in Environment Health and Safety or Chemistry or Biology degree. Good knowledge of the workplace health risk assessment. Experience collecting industrial hygiene sampling, noise monitoring, and basic ergonomics assessment.
- Soft Skills: Communication and stakeholder engagement
- Digital skills: Experience in using various Microsoft programs (teams, excel, ppt).
- Good to have: Profession certification or degree in industrial hygiene or exposure assessment. Experience in using systems like ENHESA or Intelex. Proficiency in French and English

BMS has a diverse occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:
Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
