The Project Engineer is the single point of accountability for the end-to-end project process necessary for a Capital Project to deliver on business objectives. Clearly sets capital project direction and expectations for team members and contractors/vendors. The Project Engineer provides the primary interface between the Project Teams and the Business and leads all necessary communication forums.
Main responsibilities:
- Leads cross functional capital project teams (including contract engineering team members) to meet business objectives.
- Engages the project steering or leadership team as needed to ensure alignment with business, address any needs or concerns, make individual project direction decisions, and provide status updates throughout execution of projects.
- Provides leadership for an effective and cohesive team by ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood.
- Manages contract partner relationships across Run & Maintain activities and capital projects. Leverages functional support including procurement and contract administration teams.
- Ensures applicable project deliverable are accomplished in a quality manner and leads the project gatekeeping reviews.
- Leads the team in identifying non-capital alternatives or lower capital options.
- Ensures excellence in adherence to Process Safety Management (PSM), Environmental, Safety and Health (EH&S), Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA) requirements, export controls and trade secrets principles, and other core value standards, processes and procedures.
- Facilitates economic evaluations, prepares funding requests, forecasts capital and non-cap expenditures and asset write-offs, and ensures necessary financial reporting and accounting is performed.
- Ensures only changes consistent with the business and project objectives are approved.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of Project Quality Plans, including auditing work processes and deliverables for compliance, and for meeting agreed upon project quality requirements and expectations.
- Work with business and technical leadership to identify and comply with any US Export Control and Trade Secret/Intellectual Property/Security requirements for the project.
- Primary interface on Front-End Loading (FEL) and Design/Procurement of assigned capital projects.
- Strong computer skills including familiarity or ability to quickly learn the clients preferred tools including SAP, Ecosys, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Support the preparation of all documents needed to complete FEL and execute production design and procurement.
- Provide oversight for construction management and at times during execution, daily field contract administration.
- Champion productivity improvement strategies including LEAN Construction Methodologies.
- Drive full integration of project team to develop deliverables in the most cost effective and efficient way.
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering (chemical or mechanical preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project engineering, process or design engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in leading capital projects and managing a project portfolio (from project planning through construction including spend forecasting and invoicing).
- Microsoft Office proficiency required. Knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Ability to work effectively and proactively with a strong sense of project ownership in a team environment is a requirement.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

The Pay range for this role is $85,120.00 - $133,760.00 Annual

Each role has an associated pay range (or an established pay rate for some roles) based on the competitive market in each country where we operate. Each individual’s pay is based on a variety of factors, including their role and the associated pay range for that role, their geographic location (i.e., country, state, metropolitan area), as well as their skills, experience, education and certifications, and performance.
