Job Summary
At BioLegend we are dedicated to commercializing high quality reagents to support the research community for legendary discoveries. The QC Lead for the BioLegend’s Quality Control department will lead a QC team responsible for the testing of such products as antibodies and proteins in the following application(s): flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, ELISA, multiplex immunoassays and/or functional bioassays. The candidate will define goals and objectives for the QC team in collaboration with the QC department supervisor and manager. This candidate will be responsible for supervising employees within the group in performing all aspects of the assays following SOPs and ISO requirements and monthly reporting of the group’s results. The candidate will also be responsible for training and development of the staff including annual performance reviews.
The QC lead will have over 2 years of lab experience and at least 1 year performing the specific application for the position (flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, ELISA, Mojo, multiplex immunoassays and/or functional bioassays). They must be able to work independently and have a deep understanding of the theory and the biology behind the application and the products. Experience with process improvement projects (LEAN/6 Sigma) is a plus.

- Management
- Help supervisor interview staff to support the demands of the team
- Manage staff to promote dedication, accountability, commitment, productivity and growth
- Mentor/support career development of associates
- Providing coaching and counseling to employee as needed.
- Write performance reviews for associates
- Escalate staffing issues to supervisor
- Monitor daily team activities and track productivity
- Leadership
- Take leadership role to maintain facilities, safety lab equipment, monitor the status of pipettes and reagents used in the lab
- Take a leadership role to support all safety measures in the lab
- Support other teams such as in manufacturing, planning, technical support and R&D/PD to provide ETA, investigate issues, etc. in a timely manner
- Fully understand the MSDS (SDS) for every product in the lab
- Lead by example
- Show initiative to increase productivity of the team; drive process improvement projects
- Communicate with the management team to overcome obstacles and escalate any issues.
- Product Testing (encompassing all SOPs)
- Understand all technical aspects of the testing done to support the team
- Support data analysis as specified in SOP and Item Spex with the support of QC Leadership team and scientists as needed
- Documentation
- Help support good documentation practices on the team and help supervisor during QA audits as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation, following company SOPs and ISO requirements; assure team is current on training records
- Work with supervisor to edit and write SOPs and work instructions
- Support validations of equipment and/or processes if needed
- Communication:
- Be able to summarize experiments, generate data summaries and reports in a concise and thorough manner, and present formally as needed
- Provide ETAs for product testing in a timely manner
- Help generate monthly reports and metrics
- Escalate all issues to supervisor
- Training
- Train staff per SOPs for the application
- Provide retraining as needed

- Other projects or responsibilities as may be required
Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- More than 2 years of laboratory work experience and deep knowledge of the application
- Familiarity with lab equipment and knowledge of lab safety protocols
- Excellent organization, communication, and problem solving skills
- Proven ability to multi-task
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience
- BS or MS in science.
- Previous experience coordinating a team is a big plus
- Experience in sterile cell culture technique
- Thorough understanding of the following applications: flow cytometry, western blotting, Immunoprecipitation, bioassays, ELISA and IHC/ICC is proffered
The base salary range for this full-time position is $33.65-$38/hour This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
