Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the design, prototyping, and testing of systems and subsystems across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, biomedical).
- Support the development and testing of biological assays, including thermocycling, pipetting, and optical analysis, as well as troubleshooting and optimization of microfluidic techniques.
- Prototype and design electrical or mechanical systems as well as perform associated biomedical experiments, (i.e. custom PCB layouts, firmware development, mechanical assemblies within Solidworks, data collection, & system-level diagnostics).
- Conduct diagnostic testing, analyze results, and prepare standard reports to communicate findings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with biology, engineering, and manufacturing teams to optimize devices and assays.
- Maintain multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related STEM field.
- Knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks), electrical design tools (e.g., Altium, Eagle), and/or software development (Python/C++) or willingness to learn.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in cross functional team.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on challenging projects in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Familiarity with microfluidic, optical, or thermal systems.
- Experience with laboratory equipment (i.e. thermocyclers, pipetting, fluorometers, Agilent Bioanalyzers, etc.).
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (e.g., 3D printing, machining, molding) and system-level integration.
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to develop test protocols, and deliver formalized technical reports.
