Accountable for providing day to day technical support to enable safe, consistent, reliable, and cost-effective unit operation while supporting Process Safety Management (PSM), and managing process changes to drive short term, incremental improvement.
Responsibilities
- Drives Management of Change (MOC) process for area under responsibility including managing implementation of new/revised process conditions, small improvement projects and temporary changes.
- Plans, manages and/ or executes production related projects, from operator generated improvement ideas to short/mid-term Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and the like.
- Collects and records Operating Asset Utilization (OAU) data.
- Supports plant Operating Asset Utilization (OAU) improvements.
- Monitors and analyzes key process data to develop proposals for improving production process for safety, quality, yield (cost), capacity, energy efficiency, etc... Leads /participates in these ad hoc projects.
- Creates / updates plant trouble shooting guides.
- Supports plant troubleshooting and provides expert technical assistance as needed
- Manages / analyzes data to generate campaign reports.
- Creates / updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and temporary procedures.
- Provides inputs to process design and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)s.
- Interfaces with Tech Center on long range improvements and participate as needed.
- Create Pre-Campaign training documentation and temporary procedures (as needed) and lead the training of operators.
- Lead and / or assist with Root Cause Failure Analysis for Incident Investigations
Education/Experience:
- Technical Degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in Chemical Engineering / related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years engineering experience in a manufacturing setting preferred
- Experience with Process Automation a plus
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated skill to diagnose and troubleshoot process and mechanical problems.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge in a basic engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Uptime, SAP, PLC/DCS (for tracking data, running the process).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of Process Safety Management and Plant Safety Rules.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, prioritize, and execute plans and deliver results on multiple activities to achieve COTs.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to listen to team members' input to make recommendations aligned with production goals.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in all levels of the organization in both oral and written communications.
- Self-managed with strong initiative.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key metrics used to monitor and improve Chemical processes (OAU, cycle time, yields and Quality Metrics).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental science behind some specific technology used in the site.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct field inspections and audits.
- Able to use a keyboard, walk, sit, use ladders, wear specific PPE such as hard hats, safety shoes, eye glasses, hard hat,and respirator
