As a Scientist in the Evinova Endpoints team, you will be a subject matter expert on endpoint development, including evidence generation for existing and novel endpoints. Your work will detail the patient benefits of new medicines, contributing to the successful development and commercialization of innovative therapies and digital health solutions. You will provide quantitative measurement expertise applied to data from clinical outcomes assessments (COAs), such as traditional survey-like instruments and novel sensor/wearable data capture instruments. Your role will span therapeutic areas including oncology, cardiovascular, renal & metabolism, and Respiratory & Immunology. You will conduct gap analyses, develop solutions to optimize endpoint development, and interpret data for various audiences. Collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners is essential to uphold patient-centricity, diversity, sustainability values, and scientific rigor.
Accountabilities:
- Contribute to workstreams in applying psychometrics/clinimetrics/statistics to generate evidence of patients’ experience with treatment throughout the drug development lifecycle. (e.g. psychometric performance of the instrument, sensitivity/specificity of signal detection, construction of novel endpoints according to the estimand framework to characterize disease progression, or tolerability).
- Collaborates to design, conduct and interpret and/or supervises functional service provider(s) for psychometrics/clinimetrics or statistical analyses for the validation of clinical outcomes assessments (COA) including data from sensors/wearables and their implementation in clinical trials including: define data collection, develop analyses strategy, manipulates and validates data files, scoring, test selection, and analyses.
- Develops, inspects, and/or mines and transforms models for data interpretation
- Establish fit-for-purpose visualization of data
- Prepare, review, and publish data and ensure that findings are communicated effectively, and as appropriate in scientific reports, internal/ conference presentations, publications, regulatory dossiers reflecting ongoing or completed work
- Plan and conduct meetings with content experts (internal, health authorities) for endpoint performance
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Advanced degree required with a strong quantitative and/or qualitative background (Master’s or above in Public Health, Statistics, Biostatistics, Psychology, Testing and Measurement, Epidemiology, Pharmaceutical, or quantitative-related fields).
- Experience in psychometric methods, e.g., classical test theory, Rasch, for performance assessment.
- Combination of academic training and practical experience in measurement research.
- Conceptual, analytical and strategic thinking.
- Creative, innovative, solution-focused.
- Curious, embraces new ways of problem solving, new ideas, new ways of working.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships.
- Ability to serve as “translator” between scientific problems to data science solutions.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Programming in R and visualization in R studio and interactive applications, or similar.
- Experience with data from multiple sources, including wearables and sensors.
- Familiarity with digital biomarker development framework.
- Experience with the development, psychometric evaluation and selection of COA instruments used in clinical studies.
- Conducting outcomes research studies and communicating study findings to internal and external audiences.
- Diligence – attention to detail and ability to manage a program of concurrent activities.
- Resilience – ability to overcome and motivate others in the face of a changing environment.
