Specialist Security Data Engineer, Classification
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will act as the technical lead for our Modern Data Classification Program. This role will report to the Manager, Data Security. This position will provide essential services that enable us to better pursue our mission.
The primary responsibility of this role is to design, implement, and manage data classification strategies to ensure data is organized, categorized, and labeled according to business and regulatory requirements. The Data Engineer will work closely with data governance, IT, and cybersecurity teams to develop classification frameworks, automate processes, and ensure data privacy, compliance, and security across the organization.
Areas of responsibility include:
Developing and maintaining data classification frameworks and automated information classification models using Natural Language Processing.
Implementing automated solutions to tag and categorize structured and unstructured data.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data is classified according to internal policies and external regulations.
Performing regular audits and reviews of data classification schemes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Integrating data classification and labeling technology into the operations of traditional Data Loss Prevention operations.
Monitoring and reporting on data classification effectiveness and recommending improvements.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
Or
Master's degree and 2 years of Information Security or Information Technology experience
Or
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Information Security or Information Technology experience
Or
Associate's degree and 8 years of Information Security or Information Technology experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Information Security or Information Technology experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with one or more security frameworks, especially in regulated environments.
Demonstrated proficiency with one or more data classification technologies
Holds or is actively seeking one or more security related certifications, preferably with a focus on data technologies or data protection.
Proficiency specifying requirements for technical systems, as well as designing, implementing, and operating those systems.
Expertise in global IT operations, including an understanding of regulatory and cultural differences encountered when dealing with international peers and customers.
Understanding of one or more programming or scripting languages and familiarity with both Windows and Unix operating systems.
Track record of project management leadership, preferably using Agile methodology.
Proficiency with communications focused on both the development of written technical processes and the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly in front of an audience.
Experience with data analytics focused on building executive reports
Reputation of successfully navigating large enterprise environments, understanding both ITIL driven processes and business relationship building
Ability to self-direct work on multiple priorities with little to no oversight, based on strategic initiatives.
Advanced Professional Proficiency or Functionally Native Proficiency in both written and spoken English.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
