Job Description
The Supplier Quality Representative will visit vendor/supplier shops to perform surveillance activities as defined by the quality surveillance assignment, verify that equipment and/or materials comply with the defined attributes of recognized codes and standards and procurement document requirements, document and communicate non-conformances with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel, and collaborate with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel to identify a course of action to achieve satisfactory disposition of non-conformances.
Responsibilities:
The Supplier Quality Representative will represent the client in performing quality surveillance activities defined by the assignment scope to verify through monitoring, observation, document review, and selective hands-on inspection, that supplier furnished material and equipment conforms to the technical and quality requirements of the procurement documents. Acting in this capacity, the Supplier Quality Representative will perform the following activities:
- Reviews the procurement requirements with supplier representatives to ensure they are understood and implemented.
- Monitors supplier personnel activities including the witnessing of operations, inspections, examinations or tests to verify purchase order/material requisition requirements have been met.
- Reviews supplier generated documentation and records to verify conformance to procurement document requirements.
- Documents and communicates material and equipment found to be nonconforming and collaborates with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel to identify a course of action to achieve satisfactory disposition of disclosed non-conformances.
- Releases conforming material for shipment and notifies other functional organizations to assist in coordination of their release-related activities.
- Reports the results of quality surveillance activities to provide the project personnel and the client/customer with the status of surveillance activities.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, or in the absence of a degree, equivalent of two years of full time college coursework in a related discipline plus 500 hours of in-shop related experience performing surveillance, quality control/ assurance, and/or inspection in an electrical or electronic manufacturing/production setting.
- Two years of experience performing surveillance, quality control/assurance, and/or inspection in an electrical or electronic manufacturing/production setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or the absence of a diploma or equivalent, 1000 hours of in-shop related experience performing surveillance, quality control/assurance, and/or inspection in an electrical or electronic manufacturing/production setting.
- Ability to work under moderate supervision.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret specifications, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams/schematics.
- Working knowledge of computer skills including Word, Excel, electronic submission of reports and assignment tracking, and camera utilization.
- Foundational knowledge in the fabrication and/or inspection of cable and wire harness assemblies, and wire terminations in electrical equipment assemblies.
- Foundational knowledge in electrical cable and equipment testing (continuity, dielectric withstanding voltage, insulation resistance, ground resistance, bonding, etc.).
- Willingness and ability to climb ladders and utilize safety equipment and PPE as required.
- Familiarity and/or certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620-S (space addendum) E.
- Willingness and ability to travel to vendor sites. Some assignments may require weekly travel of 6-8 hours.
