Your Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scale-Up Engineer to join the Advanced Manufacturing & Digitalization team within our Formulations business. The successful candidate will be responsible for scaling up new patterning and planarization products from the R&D lab to high-volume manufacturing (HVM), ensuring efficiency, safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards. Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and optimization of chemical manufacturing processes for scale-up of new products from the laboratory to the pilot plant and high-volume production
- Design and conduct experiments to evaluate process parameters and performance
- Perform small-scale lab chemistry to model and understand large-scale process chemistry and inform HVM process design
- Design pilot-scale processes that are representative of HVM conditions in order to sample customers with consistent quality throughout the scale-up and commercialization stages
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, yield, and safety
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, marketing, and quality assurance to ensure seamless process transfer
- Analyze data and provide detailed technical reports and documentation to support of new product introduction (NPI) milestones
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) and product design output forms (PDOF) to ensure consistent product quality after transfer to HVM operations
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues in a timely manner
- Apply the Stage-Gate methodology for new product launches, ensuring thorough completion of each stage and data-backed decision-making for gate approvals
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or other life science disciplines
- 2+ years’ experience using process simulation software, design of experiments, and statistical modeling/analysis to drive process development and scale-up activities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, or other life science disciplines
- Experience in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or specialty chemicals industry
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to use data to drive decision making and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical peers
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards (e.g., REACH, RoHS, ISO 9001)
- Knowledge of process safety management and risk assessment
