We are seeking sophomore and junior students majoring in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field for two 12-Week Student Intern roles to be working in Gaithersburg, MD for a May 19th - August 8th contract period.
Position Duties:
This role has two separate headcount for the descriptions listed below.
Overcome Process Development Challenges for Novel Molecules:
Evaluate and onboard emerging technologies to tackle the purification challenges brought by these novel formats.
Gain in-depth understandings on how the processing parameters affect the purification challenges of these novel molecules.
Develop toolbox or generic solutions for the top 5 common challenges.
Pack columns and prepare buffers.
Present study progress to the group and/or a wider audience.
Evaluation of Novel Host Cell Protein Removal Resins for Biopharmaceutical Purification Processes:
Gain knowledge and experience in column chromatography, protein purification, and the clearance of impurities.
Perform chromatography runs to evaluate the impurity removal capability of novel chromatography resins.
Apply automated liquid handling tools to perform high throughput screening experiments to determine impurity removal capability of novel chromatography resins.
Perform data analysis to interpret experimental results and documentation of workflow.
Position Requirements:
Undergraduate sophomore and junior students majoring in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.
Good documentation, writing, and communication skills required.
Basic understanding of separation principles for chromatographic purification required.
Microsoft Office experience such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
Wet lab skills such as pipetting and knowledge of buffer preparation required.
Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.
US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
This role will not be providing CPT/OPT support.
Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD for 3-5 days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.
Minimum grade point average of 3.0
