Manufacturing Unit Manager
Your role and responsibilities
• Develop annual operating budget and control costs including overhead expenditures related to the manufacturing process, indirect, and direct labor. Develop a functional strategic plan which supports the two-year Manufacturing Strategic Plan. Evaluate and recommend allocation of resources necessary to meet the manufacturing plan, e.g, equipment, people and overtime. Execute the master production schedule/MRP relative to price, quality, and delivery. Suggest and implement ideas to eliminate waste and continually improve processes. Develop improvements in areas of cost, quality, process, safety, and service to internal and external customers. Communicate and control significant manufacturing variances against measurement results to plan and recommend appropriate action plan.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing. Partner with engineering and maintenance managers to evaluate production processes, diagnose potential problems/issues and recommend and/or take appropriate corrective action. Create an environment which is responsive to satisfying customer needs.
• Use modern manufacturing and quality techniques to ensure that processes are documented. Ensure that operational policies/procedures and management systems are in place. Ensure that EHS is prioritized including utilization of safety equipment and guarding, Right-to-Know program, and minimization or elimination of hazardous materials.
• Hire, retain, and develop the operations team to support the strategic manufacturing plan. Set performance expectations, measure outcomes, and reward people. Ensure communication takes places with employees on departmental, plant, and company performance. Communicate risk management plan expectations to employees and measure performance to plan.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Engineering) and 10+ years of experience in production management.
- Knowledge of financial reports, operating budgets and problem solving techniques.
- Experience with quality and manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems.
- Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
