Global R&D Execution Excellence
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an accomplished leader to serve as Director of Global R&D Execution Excellence, responsible for transforming our worldwide R&D operations and fostering a culture of operational excellence. This strategic leadership position will architect and implement frameworks for operational excellence while leading the cultural transformation necessary for sustained organizational change. The ideal candidate will bring extensive medical device R&D leadership experience with a proven track record of successfully leading large-scale organizational and cultural transformations while maintaining operational excellence in FDA-regulated environments. This position reports to the Vice President, Global Product Engineering and will serve as a key member of the Product Engineering Leadership Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Design and implement comprehensive frameworks for R&D operational excellence, including standardized methodologies for project execution, resource optimization, and performance measurement
- Establish and oversee systematic approaches for portfolio management, resource allocation, and program execution across multiple global sites
- Drive strategic initiatives to enhance organizational capability, operational efficiency, and quality system integration across the global R&D function
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive change management strategies to drive cultural transformation across the global R&D organization
- Create and execute communication strategies that effectively convey the vision for change and maintain engagement throughout the transformation
- Monitor and assess cultural indicators, adjusting approaches as needed to ensure successful adoption of new ways of working
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in execution
- Mentor and coach leaders at all levels to build change management capabilities and leadership skills
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment and buy-in across organizational boundaries
- Define and implement metrics to track both operational performance and transformation progress
- Partner with executive leadership to shape long-term R&D strategy and cultural vision
- Establish governance structures that reinforce desired behaviors and ways of working
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless integration of operational and cultural changes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field required
Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or MBA preferred
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in medical device industry
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience managing R&D organizations and complex program execution
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale organizational transformation initiatives
- Proven track record in medical device product development and commercialization
- Experience leading quality system remediation or major quality initiatives
- Strong background in program management and operational excellence preferred
Skills
- Deep understanding of FDA regulations, ISO standards, and design controls in medical device development
- Exceptional leadership abilities with demonstrated success in building and developing high-performing teams
- Strong track record of driving organizational change and operational excellence
- Expert knowledge of program management methodologies and best practices
- Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across global organizations
- Experience in managing matrix organizations and cross-functional teams
- Strong business acumen with ability to balance technical excellence with business objectives
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must possess a valid passport
- PMP certification or equivalent project/program management credentials preferred

Target Pay Range: $205,500.00 to $256,900.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 30.0%
