Position Summary
The Specialist QC Microbiology is responsible for performing routine testing of in[1]process, final product and stability samples and may perform testing for method transfer/validation/verification. The Specialist is also responsible for performing data verification and review and training new analysts. The Specialist may also perform documentation review and support other GMP or project related activities e.g., investigations.
Ensures compliance with European Union, national, and local environmental, safety, medical surveillance and sustainability laws, regulations, codes, rules, and guidelines.
- Works directly with operations and serves as the lead regarding general occupational safety, industrial hygiene and ergonomics.
- Develop, improve and implement EHSS programs, policies and procedures.
- Lead EHSS meetings and manage platforms, databases and sharepoints for procedures (SOPs), forms, investigations, reporting, inspections, action items, in line with the BMS standards and requirements.
- Develop, maintain and distribute EHSS reports and records as assigned.
- Participate as a trainer in the EHSS training program for the site,
- Key contact for internal customers, management and other cross functional groups, including the building of strong relationships by handling relevant EHSS topics.
- Contribute to and show leadership in an EHSS culture at the facility that partners with operational teams to ensure all are accountable for the EHSS performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.S. degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene (occupational hygienist), biosafety or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working within an occupational safety and health and/or occupational hygiene position in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
- Experience with risk assessment of exposure to (bio)hazardous substances and ergonomics.
- Experience with incident management systems and/or learning systems database (e.g., Enablon, Success Factors, Compliance Wire, etc.).
Desired Experience
- Pharmaceutical experience
- Prior biosafety experience, e.g. as a biosafety officer or similar.
Competences & Knowledge
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with regulatory requirements.
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to frequently changing priorities and think creatively, critically and strategically to solve problems in a complex environment with urgency, agility and persuasion.
- Effective decision-making capability to guide assigned projects to successful conclusions.
