Sr. Engineer - Operations Improvement
What you will do

In this vital role you will play a key part in optimizing our manufacturing processes and systems, driving strategic capacity improvements, and leading multi-functional initiatives that enhance operational efficiency. Using Lean, Six Sigma, and advanced simulation tools, you will ensure our processes are primed to support the development and delivery of life-changing therapies. By collaborating with teams across the organization and coaching on best practices, you will directly contribute to our mission.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Drive the optimization of equipment utilization, process area capacity, manufacturing performance, and space utilization, while managing strategic capacity processes for business cases.
- Develop and implement manufacturing execution policies to improve throughput, minimize Work in Progress (WIP), reduce operational costs, and plan for direct/indirect headcount requirements.
- Identify, lead, and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities, applying Operational Excellence, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance performance in both Manufacturing and Support areas.
- Provide coaching and facilitate training on Lean practices such as Kaizen, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Visual Management, 5S, Mistake Proofing, and Standard Work to manufacturing and support staff.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams on improvement projects, supporting analyses related to Lean/Six Sigma initiatives, including benefits/risks evaluation.
- Facilitate department strategy and goals development sessions, assisting area management with quantitative analysis for decision-making and evaluating multiple alternatives.
- Support new product and technology introductions by performing industrial engineering assessments on capacity, staffing, layout, and impacts to manufacturing systems.
- Communicate and report assessments, project updates, problem-solving issues, and performance indicators to upper management and network-supporting groups.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in Engineering
Or
Master’s degree in Engineering and 2 years of experience in Engineering
Or
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of experience in Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Educational background in Industrial Engineering, with working knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech processes.
- Experience with digital simulation and planning tools (VirtECS, SIMIO, SAP), and demonstrated proficiency in using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, with a strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts, tools (OEE, Kaizen, 5S), and their application to drive operational excellence.
- Proven project management skills, including the ability to lead multi-functional teams through project development and closure, as well as experience with long and short-term strategic capacity planning, labor models, and new product introduction assessments.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with experience managing change and optimizing schedules.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills (Spanish and English), with the ability to present across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in digital tools and software (Office 365 suite, Minitab, Visio, MS Project, etc.), with a self-motivated and independent work style.
