The Engineering division is now seeking a Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Specialist for a 1-year fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this key role focuses on managing MRO inventory and the CMMS system, codifying parts, maintaining vendor relations, and planning and scheduling maintenance activities. The goal is to reduce downtime, enhance operations, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Key duties and role expectations include:
Inventory Management:
Manage and execute the codification of new parts and the re-codification of existing parts in SAP.
Oversee the inventory of MRO supplies (spare parts, tools, and consumables) ensuring appropriate stock
levels.
Implement efficient MRO inventory control systems to minimize downtime due to part shortages. • Conduct periodic audits of MRO supplies and ensure compliance with procurement and warehousing
procedures.
Vendor and Supplier Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with MRO suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate pricing to ensure cost-effective procurement of MRO parts and services.
Evaluate and monitor supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery times.
Operations Support:
Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to align MRO activities with operational goals.
Ensure timely and efficient resolution of any equipment failures or operational disruptions.
Assist in the development of processes and improvements that enhance operational efficiency and reduce spare parts costs.
Collaborate with Master Data to ensure the correct data for each part is codified into SAP.
Provide backup support to the Maintenance Planner in scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities as required.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure that all MRO activities comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Provide leadership in maintaining a safe working environment, implementing safety protocols, and conducting safety audits.
Lead training initiatives on maintenance and safety procedures for the team.
Adherence to our Site Safety Culture by means of the following mechanisms;
Ensure compliance with all relevant EHS legal and other legislative requirements and actively promote and support EHS initiatives across the site.
Responsible for promoting a safety culture within their area and ensuring that plant personnel adhere to safe work practices and to standard operating procedures.
In order to maintain and continuously improve our compliance levels, it is the responsibility of the position to monitor GMP and EHS compliance through shop floor presence and to take appropriate corrective action where needed.
Ensure all accident/incidents are investigated in a timely manner and effective corrective and preventative actions are put in place to prevent re-occurrence.
Ensure closure of EHS actions raised from accidents/incidents, audits, risk assessments etc. are managed and closed in a timely manner.
Ensure risk assessments for the area are carried out, documented, reviewed and communicated to all relevant personnel in the area.
Ensure Management of Change from an EHS and GMP perspective in accordance with site systems and procedures.
Reporting and Data Analysis:
Monitor and analyse maintenance performance metrics (e.g., downtime, response time, costs).
Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance and MRO inventory performance to senior
management.
Identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement in MRO processes.
Track and manage Engineering records, documentation, and performance metrics.
Knowledge, abilities & experience
Education / Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in maintenance, repair, and operations management or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of maintenance processes, inventory control, and supplier management.
Experience in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and other maintenance-related software.
Languages:
Key Technical Competencies Required
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and recommend improvements.
Must be willing to work in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.
Some travel may be required to support multiple locations or attend meetings.
