Job Description
As a Hardware Engineer Co-op for Rockwell Automation, you will have the opportunity to join a dynamic team developing the next generation of new automation control systems. In this position, you will be part of a team initially challenged with the critical role of validating the functionality and performance of the new hardware and ensuring our products meet all functional, regulatory and safety requirements. Position Description
We are looking for someone who is team oriented and understands the value of using open and direct communication, honesty, and respect as an aid to building strong working relationships. We want someone who will seek knowledge of new technologies and trends in engineering and look to apply them to their job. You will be continually supported with mentorship and coaching.
You will:
- Work on an agile team to develop test requirements and execute hardware verification test plans with traceability to product requirements, including board level functional testing, EMC/EMI, Safety Agencies (UL, ATEX, IECEX), Functional Safety (IEC 61508), and Environmental
- Perform programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototype
- Contribute to associated product design documentation and test reports
- Take ownership of assignments by understanding expected output, requesting help as needed, and helping teammates as needed
- Build relationships with technical leads and peers to grow your knowledge of the product development lifecycle
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree at an accredited college or university
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Previous co-op/intern experience in Hardware Development and / or Embedded Systems
- Experience using design capture tools, able to read & understand schematics, and have basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs)
- Hands-on experience with hardware test equipment, including debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
- Experience developing and/or using programs (assembly, C/C++, Python, ladder) for product initialization, debug, or test
- Experience working as part of a team using Agile/Scrum methodologies in a Scaled Agile Framework
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers
- Experience performing product certification testing, such as testing to meet CE and IEC 61010
