Job Description
Renishaw is a global metrology company with core development of measurement, motion control, healthcare, spectroscopy and additive manufacturing products. A Service Technician is responsible for in-house service, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of a variety of electronic/mechanical products.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for in-house service, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of a variety of electronic and mechanical products including, but not limited to:
- Machine Tool probes and tool setting systems
- Motorized heads, probes, racks and controllers for Coordinate Measuring Machines
- Equator gauging systems
- Other products of higher degree of sophistication
- Prepares custom orders of Encoder scale and styli products: cutting, assembly, testing, packaging and completion of works order.
- Tests, repairs, and handles ISO 17025-certified calibrations of laser measurement and machine calibration systems.
- Tests systems, sub-assemblies, and parts to ensure product functions according to specifications or to determine cause of product failure
- Maintains administrative records of work performed. Processes repairs and associated works orders in Renishaw systems.
- Produces product evaluation reports.
- Dispatches repair sales orders for shipment to customers.
- Performs preventative maintenance on repair tools and equipment.
- Organizes and maintain the repair shop.
- Develops strong partnerships with other department to aid in anticipating potential customer issues and uncover additional selling opportunities in accounts.
- Aids in training others and assisting them in their job duties.
- Assists other departments with service-related questions.
- Other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Minimum
- Associates degree in Electrical Technology, or experience equivalent
- 3+ years’ experience repairing mechanical/electronic products
- This position may require the use of, and access to, ITAR controlled data. The applicant must demonstrate eligibility to use and access such ITAR controlled data. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws.
Education and Experience: Preferred
- Ability to understand and comprehend engineering principles
- Understanding of electronic and mechanical principles
- Information Technology aptitude
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies
- Identification and ability to troubleshoot problems with technical systems
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Strong mathematical skills
- Patience and attention to detail
- Manual dexterity with the physical ability to install products in a normal production environment
