Terumo is a leading manufacturer of medical devices, producing around 800 million injection needles, injection solutions, catheters, and accessories annually at our Leuven (Haasrode) site. We are expanding our operations with a new production unit featuring state-of-the-art machinery that combines automation with extensive data capture. To support the smooth launch of this new facility, we are strengthening our Engineering and Maintenance Team. As a Maintenance Engineering Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting key projects and ensuring the technical setup is efficiently implemented.
Internship Summary
As a Maintenance Engineering Intern, you will work closely with our experienced engineers to help maintain and improve our production processes. This role will give you the chance to contribute to crucial aspects of our operations, from documentation management and materials setup to improvement projects and process optimizations. You will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment and contribute directly to our operations at Terumo’s cutting-edge facility.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will assist the team with various tasks related to maintenance and engineering, including:

Technical Documentation Management:
- Developing and implementing documentation management procedures in SharePoint and SAP.
- Collecting, digitizing, and organizing documentation to ensure data is stored accurately and securely.

Technical Bill of Materials (BOM):
- Ensuring accurate material descriptions and linking materials to relevant installations in SAP.
- Analyzing material usage and formulating optimization proposals.

Improvement Projects:
- Designing project plans, creating as-built drawings, and contributing to projects aimed at replacing or upgrading technology.
- Working with Visio, PLC, and Electrical/Mechanical systems on projects, improvement ideas, and process upgrades.
- Supporting maintenance processes by preparing work instructions for projects and developing new maintenance procedures.

Maintenance Instructions:
- Updating and creating maintenance instructions for new installations and technologies.

Support Technicians:
- Assisting in various technical areas including mechanical, electrical, PLC, and facilities maintenance.
Profile Description

- Are currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, etc.).
- Have a strong interest in maintenance engineering, technical documentation, and process optimization.
- Possess excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Are proactive, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
