Job Description Summary
Process Engineer (PE) is part of a small team that is responsible for the line(s) performance, which includes output, scrap, and downtime reduction. This requires the PE to be on the manufacturing floor 65% of the time evaluating equipment, interacting with and mentoring production associates on equipment standards and troubleshooting. This role also supports capacity planning and growth, as well as define budgeted rates and process documentation. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Implements and sustains BD Excellence work process for the manufacturing unit.
Interacts with production associates and equipment to analyze the losses.
Understands top losses within the manufacturing unit and develops and executes plans to eliminate losses and drive OEE performance.
Creates technical knowledge for the manufacturing unit and transfers the knowledge to the operator and technical associates.
Actively participates in troubleshooting, Pit Stop and Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities.
Spend approximately 65% of the time on the production floor supporting line activities.
Owns line gap analysis and reviews line trends to calibrate priorities, mid - long term
Responsible for manufacturing unit change control including validation activities, root cause analysis of prioritized OEE losses, and quality events and deviations.
Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Education and Experience
Minimum Education:
This position has the following minimum educational requirements:
High School Diploma/GED: Required
BA/BS Degree: Preferred - Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred
In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, 5 years technical or manufacturing experience required
Internal Applicants must have BD PE training or willing to train within the first 6 months in role.

Work Environment:
Personal Protective Equipment must be worn and may include a hair net, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and/or ear plugs. This associate may be expected to stand for long periods of time during their shift and navigate small spaces between and inside production equipment.
