DuPont has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Raw Material Quality and Supplier Management (RQSM) Engineer job in Electronic Materials / Chemical Mechanical Planarization Technology (CMPT), located in Newark, DE.
Flexible schedule expected to be 80 onsite / 20 remote in the long term with flexibility in scheduling required. 5-10% travel to raw material suppliers.
The RQSM Engineer works as part of a global team to develop strong relationships with our vendors to ensure material requirements. By using a variety of statistical methods, the RQSM Engineer evaluates materials and processes with an eye to reducing risk at our customer. If material quality upsets do occur, the RQSM Engineer work as a leading member of the troubleshooting and root cause identification team.
The RQSM team is part of the Integrated Operations (IO) function within DuPont’s Electronics and Imaging (E&I) business, and interacts with R&D, Analytical Sciences, Process Development Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure success.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain quality requirements for raw materials for use in CMPT manufacturing.
- Establish and maintain critical process control parameters for raw material production in concert with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure new and existing raw material supply plans align with global strategy.
- Evaluate new suppliers for potential benefits as primary or secondary suppliers, including collaborative work with R&D and Manufacturing supporting new product and opportunity development.
- Oversee and execute qualification planning, trial execution, final reports, and security of supply.
- Manage and monitor supplier performance by interacting closely to ensure clear communication of DuPont’s expectations, including regular audits, technical meetings, on-going improvement activities, performance feedback to supplier, training of semiconductor industry expectations and on-site visits.
- Fully understand supplier’s manufacturing process, control methods, measurement, and quality system for developing raw material FMEA. (Work with to improve process)
- Drive the improvement of quality and performance of suppliers' quality systems including management of change and notification protocols, root cause investigation, documentation, and reporting, SPC/SQC programs, calibration, and non-conforming material review systems.
- Support trouble shooting of supplied material issues and facilitate Root Cause Investigations (RCI) related to supplied materials impact on final product performance and develop mitigation strategies to prevent excursions.
- Fully characterize assigned raw and consumable materials, coordinate analytical tasks and work with analytical experts to understand raw material characteristics. Work with stakeholders to link key parameters of material analysis to process/product performance.
- Develop material and supply mitigation strategies, including second source opportunities and alternate agreements with current suppliers.
- Take ownership of tasks and projects, ensuring they are completed on time and to the highest standard.
- Demonstrate accountability for your work, regularly reporting progress and results to management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related technical discipline such as Chemistry.
- 3+ years combined experience in manufacturing, Development/Scale-up, Quality or Continuous Improvement Engineering.
- Thorough understanding of raw material chemistry along with analytical and functional characterization methods
- Experience collaborating with customers or suppliers outside DuPont on technical projects such as raw material or product development, improvement projects, or problem resolution.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of quality management skills such as SPC, FMEA, DOE, Six-sigma, and use of statistical software such as JMP and Minitab.
- Demonstrated success resolving technical challenges in a time-critical situation.
- Strong leadership skills and people/team development skills
- Demonstrated negotiation skills. The candidate should have experience negotiating agreements with customers, vendors, or internal stakeholders.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working and managing projects in a global environment (both internal and external) with communications across cultures.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: product development, process development, or raw material development
- Lean and 6-sigma project certification.
- ISO9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification
