Role Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated Analytical Scientist to join Analytical Research & Development (ARD). ARD sits within the Technical R&D Department of Development and plays an essential role in the characterization and analysis of Drug Substances and Drug Products (classical small molecules and radioligand therapies) from the time they leave the discovery lab until they are transferred to commercial production.
The responsibilities of the Analytical Scientist comprise the development, validation and application of analytical methods for trace analytics of e.g. genotoxic impurities like nitrosamines in drug substances and drug products or trace level contaminants in excipients.
This role requires a strong background in analytical chemistry and experience with hyphenated analytical techniques like mass spectrometry.
Job Description
Major accountabilities:
- Development and optimization of analytical methods for trace analytics of e.g. genotoxic impurities like nitrosamines or other trace level contaminants.
- Validation of analytical methods for trace level analytics in various drug substances, drug products and excipients, using hyphenated analytical separation and detection techniques including mass spectrometry, as well as other state-of-the-art technologies.
- Plan, organize, execute, and document scientific experiments (e.g., analytical method development / validation / testing / transfer, formulation development analytics etc.) according to the agreed timelines and appropriate quality standards.
- Support development activities including release and stability testing.
- Maintain GMP standards in testing and documentation.
- Collaboration with analytical project teams.
- Troubleshoot analytical methods and instrumentation issues, providing scientific rationale and solutions.
- Responsible for implementation and maintenance of lean, efficient and environmentally sustainable practices in the laboratory. Contribute to maintenance of lab instruments / day-to-day operations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and workflows.
What you will bring to the role:
- Experience in hyphenated analytical separation and detection techniques including mass spectrometry.
- Hands-on experience in the development of analytical methods for pharmaceuticals, particularlytrace level analytics, e.g. nitrosamines. Understanding of ICH guidelines, cGMP, and regulatory requirements for analytical testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail, commitment to quality and accuracy.
Desirable Requirements:
- Bachelor/Masters in Life Science (e.g., analytical / organic chemistry) or equivalent.
- Minimum experience of 3 years.
- Good knowledge of English (oral and written).
