Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Insights and Technology (BI&T)- BioPharma Operating Units, the Director, BI&T, Biologics Digital Manufacturing Strategy, working with site and above site delivery teams, will be accountable for delivery of the digital components of the Devens Digital Manufacturing (Lighthouse) program, ensure that knowledge gained in this site program is shared and implemented, where appropriate, across the Bio network, and that foundational systems and capabilities that are implemented in the Devens and other site lighthouse programs are implemented with an enterprise mindset and scalability in the designs.
In this role, the Director will partner with the Devens Digital Transformation Program Lead and work closely with the Biologics Site BI&T Leads and Enterprise BI&T Teams to develop and deliver strategic, foundational, and innovative digital capabilities that enable our Smart Factory vision across the Bio network. The incumbent will be a member of the BioPharma BI&T Lead Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure effective delivery of the Bio Digital Manufacturing Lighthouse (DML) digital components, integrating seamlessly with site and above site teams, managing change effectively, crisply removing barriers to program success, and providing transparency of initiatives’ health to relevant stakeholders.
Manage execution elements including planning, budgeting, resourcing, and time estimation, to deliver right-first-time, timely outcomes.
Ensure site business alignment to program scope and readiness to adopt. Support Site Digital Plant teams on development of release strategy and execution.
Deliver near term critical priorities including Lab and Manufacturing detailed planning and scheduling, manufacturing digital equipment management capabilities, and support delivery of next generation electronic batch records to our clinical and commercial manufacturing facilities.
Create connection points between Manufacturing and Product Development digital teams.
Ensure that programs are being executed with a digital first mindset – beginning with the end in mind (usability, analytics, and reporting), streamlined processes, and employee digital readiness. Ensure smooth transition of deployed systems to site-owning teams.
Maintain awareness of relevant internal and external digital roadmaps and capabilities that could impact the Bio Op U critical priorities. Define execution strategies to allow cross-program on-time delivery. Partner with Digital Plant leaders in Bio Sites to ensure aligned roadmaps and execution plans, and where appropriate leverage talent across teams.
Use and advance Agile methodologies to deliver with urgency and visibility.
Follow GPS BI&T foundational application standards and ensure clarity of use for Operating Units and Functions. Align and deliver with corporate IT and GPS IT technical application architecture standards and overall application lifecycle strategy.
Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to align, define, and implement a right sized digital system compliance approach that allow the site to become a sustainable when digitally enabled.
In partnership with the business, shape the landscape of AI capabilities for Bio Manufacturing.
Qualifications & Experience:
10+ years of experience in computer systems used in Biologics manufacturing and supply chain execution (ERP, LIMS, CMMS, PI Vision, Lab and Detailed Plan Scheduling etc.).
7+ years of experience with business process development, continuous improvement, and requirements refinement.
Has led and delivered complex digital initiatives that transform business operations from paper to digital processes. Develops new approaches/technologies within or across functions or departments. Challenges stakeholders to take calculated risks to test and advance innovative processes and approaches.
Requires advanced knowledge of work outside own function and deep expertise in Digital and IT for manufacturing functions, typically gained through a university degree and minimum 8-10 years of experience.
Drives ‘right first time’ outcomes to achieve business objectives; recommends and drives course of action to achieve results.
Demonstrated experience with Agile delivery methodologies and ability to train new teams to adopt and excel using the approach.
Leads matrix groups to solve problems/create deliverables; structures the work of the team for maximum efficiency and manages to completion.
Demonstrated ability to influence at the senior leadership level and persuade leaders to adopt a differing point of view in a complex and highly constrained environment. Maintains composure in the face of stressful situations or difficult conversations. Ability to ensure timely completion and manage stakeholder relationships.
Ability to execute clear and reliable communication strategies that convey project status or challenges and the proposed resolution and course of action.
