Chiesi Global Rare Diseases
Chiesi Global Rare Diseases is a Chiesi Group’s business unit established in February 2020 and focused on research, development and commercialization of treatments and patient support services for rare and ultra-rare disorders, many of whom have limited or no treatments available.
The unit is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, and has an initial focus on research and product development for lysosomal storage diseases, rare hematology and ophthalmology disorders. The unit is also a dedicated partner with global leaders in scientific research, patient advocacy and care.
Purpose
The Pipeline & Portfolio Leadership team is responsible for coordinating budget and resources management, opportunity evaluations and due diligences, project leaders and therapeutic area heads to support business strategy and projects progression and development. In the Rare Disease unit, many collaborations with academic groups have been and will be built in the next future. Good management of these collaborations is key to support business growth-future-strategy and networking.
Main Activities
The Intern, reporting to the Project Leader, supports this role in the activation, maintenance and management/coordination of academic collaborations with activities related to the coordination and management of the partnership as follows:
• starting from drafting the contract with the counterpart,
• continuing with the set up and start of the collaboration (for example, setting up and leading the kick off meeting)
• proceeding with efficient engagement and coordination of supporting functions (for example preclinical leader)
• maintaining the collaboration over time (participation and coordination of periodic meetings with the counterpart plus active participation to the discussions)
• updating the core team and top management on the progression of the collaborations with a proactive/participative approach
Education
Master's degree in Biology/Biotechnology.
Languages
Fluent English (both spoken and written). A study experience abrod will consider a plus.
Technical Skills
• Ability of scientific literature search, review and understanding
• Scientific knowledge of human physiology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical drug development
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office package is a minimum (Excel, Word, Power Point)
• Knowledge of a planning tool (Microsoft Project or similar) is preferred
• Basic IT knowledge required
