Our Culture
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
Reliability Engineer - Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cork - Hybrid role 2-3 days per week onsite
BioMarin is seeking a dedicated and experienced Reliability Engineer to manage and oversee the asset lifecycle of all assets on site. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining programs such as spare parts management, preventive maintenance (PM) programs, continuous improvement initiatives, and condition monitoring. This role requires a strong background in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and familiarity with the ISO 55000 framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of site equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Reliability Engineering: Conduct reliability assessments, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and mitigate equipment risks
- Maintenance Optimization: Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Spare Parts Management: Develop and maintain an efficient spare parts management program to minimize downtime and ensure availability of critical components.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program: Implement and manage a robust PM program to prevent equipment failures and extend asset life.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- KPI Development and Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment health and reliability.
- Equipment Health Reporting: Generate regular reports on equipment health and performance, providing actionable insights for maintenance and operations teams.
- Reliability Forums: Lead and participate in reliability forums to share best practices and drive reliability culture across the site.
- Condition Monitoring: Implement and manage condition monitoring programs to detect early signs of equipment failure and take proactive measures.
- Training and Development: Provide training and support to maintenance and operations teams on reliability best practices and the ISO 55000 framework.
- Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics and reliability engineering tools to monitor equipment performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a reliability engineering role within a GMP-regulated environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management and reliability engineering principles.
- Proficiency in spare parts management, preventive maintenance, and condition monitoring techniques.
- Familiarity with the ISO 55000 framework.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in reliability engineering or asset management.
- Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
