Job Description
Our Wilmington, NC laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join their team! The Laboratory Assistant will complete a wide variety of support tasks for the Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts, ensuring best quality by following SGS’ SOPs. The Laboratory Assistant works independently and as part of a team to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks. The Laboratory Assistant always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.
Job functions:
- Signs out supplies from supply room.
- Maintains adequate supply of accessories, consumables, chemicals, etc. in each lab, to ensure efficiency of production work.
- Disposes of samples after the appropriate retention period.
- Documents in LIMS and disposes of expired/depleted chemicals.
- Assembles non-treated in-house media.
- Decontaminates/cleans laboratory glassware, containers, accessories, etc., following SOPs.
- Performs administrative tasks, as needed.
- Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (Required)
- HS diploma and 1-2 years of general work experience (Preferred)
- Proficient English language skills (Required)
- Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
- Basic computer skills (Required)
- Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lb on a frequent basis (Required)
