As a member of the IMS & Technical Department you will provide technical support across all operational activities of the business, including Bulk Operations, Industrial Gases, Speciality Gases, Maintenance and Logistics focussing on the delivery of industrial projects from concept through to realisation and handover. This will entail the formalisation of requirements, specification development, solution design, delivery support and final validation and sign-off.
Working together with the IMS and Technical Manager, the role will also be responsible for managing the portfolio of industrial projects ensuring process adherence, progress reporting, stage sign-off and arbitration.
The role is a critical and leading role, ensuring the effective management and implementation of industrial projects meeting business requirements and will require close interaction with other members of the IMS & Technical team, other business stakeholders and subcontractors. It will also allow the individual to develop their competency and recognition being part of the wider Air Liquide technical community.
- Defining, documenting, maintaining and validating with stakeholders requirements specifications (functional, system, technical & cost) for industrial projects.
- Produce design specifications detailing the technical requirements including, operating parameters, compliance requirements, performance standards, Management of Change and acceptance criteria.
- Based on the design specification, coordinate the production of design solutions together with design engineers (internal or external).
- Prepare project budgets, investment proposals and justifications.
- Prepare implementation plans for project execution including selection of contractors as appropriate.
- Manage the handover to Project Engineering or 3rd Parties for project delivery.
- Monitor the execution process and provide technical support during project delivery.
- Validate delivered solution performance against design specifications and handover to operations.
- Organise and manage project gate reviews ensuring appropriate sign-off.
- Monitor performance and the industrial project process and drive continuous improvement.
- Together with the IMS & Technical Manager, manage the portfolio of industrial projects including arbitration, selection and execution.
- Engaging with Group and Cluster stakeholders to ensure alignment of the Air Liquide UK design philosophy to the Group Technical Standards, Specifications and ways of working.
- Commit to professional development, to grow as a future Design Authority.

- Industrial process specification and design.
- Project Engineering in an industrial environment.
- Proficient Mechanical knowledge
- Basic Electrical knowledge
- Experience with pressure system equipment design (PED/TPED)
- Knowledge of Physics and Chemistry of gases and fluids.
- Proficient with 2D CAD and 3D modelling software
- Planning & Organisation Skills

- Masters or Bachelor degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineer (ideally working to Chartership) or relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience of design, verification and installation of mechanical or pressure systems on multiple projects.
- Experience with PED and pressure equipment design
- Experience with TPED requirements
