Shift Team Lead
As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Shift Team Lead to join our Vitros QC Testing team in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work on a double day’s shift pattern.
About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed:
QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 500 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.
Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.
On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.
Your new role:
As a Shift Team Lead at QuidelOrtho, you will organize and lead the QC Testing team for all Vitros related testing performed on the analyzers which includes final release for sale testing, in-process testing, trouble shooting, products stability, new product introduction and project related testing.
You will act as focus for communication with other work areas and manage resources to meet production demands whilst ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, quality and business systems. You will also monitor spend against AOP and measure performance against defined metrics, identify areas for continuous improvement and participate in departmental goal setting to meet short- and medium-term site imperatives.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Prioritize and schedule work to meet business needs. Control and deploy resources appropriately and highlight areas if concern. Accountable for the delivery of the production plan within the frameworks of health, safety, quality, compliance, and environmental policies acting as focus for communication for other work areas.
- Monitor and analyze appropriate metrics to determine efficiency and effectiveness of group outputs.
- Provide leadership and training required to achieve empowered and motivated individuals and effective cooperation within teams. Appropriately manage skills and resources within the area to ensure the ongoing development of team members and identify skill gaps. Ensure all employees have up to date job descriptions, training plans and records as well as goals in line with the needs of the business.
- Keep accurate records and measures of test methods, results, and performance indices. Ensure compliance to appropriate quality and compliance standards and continuous state of audit readiness.
- Identify and implement initiatives resulting in productivity gains.
- Advise and monitor spend against an agreed budget.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within related function ideally in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals or Consumer).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a leadership position is preferred.
- Ability to communicate to peers and the ability to carry out structured problem solving, knowledge of lean and process excellence tools.
- Good understanding and demonstrated application of Microsoft Office suite.
