Role: Scientist I, Anti-Infectives, permanent
Direct report: To Principal Scientist, Anti-Infectives
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, typically 9am to 6pm including a one-hour unpaid lunch break
Salary: Competitive salary and benefits package plus annual bonus opportunity

Our Alderley Park site is set in the heart of Cheshire surrounded by a stunning 400-acre estate, open green spaces, sweeping views, all within easy reach of Merseyside and Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and the Peak District.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Scientist I within the Evotec Alderley Park scientific team, you will participate in the organisation, conduct, and delivery of pre-clinical studies to support multiple drug discovery projects.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Adherence to protocols for studies and experiments and working in compliance with Evotec quality requirements.
- Preparation of study materials and reagents, culture of micro-organisms according to defined objectives and agreed timelines.
- Performing procedures and experiments according to specific working instructions and protocols, and within timelines required by the project.
- Data analysis and contribution to written study reports.
- Active participation in team meetings.
- Adhering to Evotec guidelines regarding accurate documentation of laboratory experiments.
- Working across multiple functions, providing support for studies and experiments as required.
- Maintaining the laboratory workspace to high standards, supporting operational roles including compound receipt and stockkeeping.
- Complying fully with the company safety policy and documentation in performing experiments.
Skills & Competencies

- Ability to work flexibly to meet project requirements (e.g. working earlier or later in the day if required) is essential.
- Willingness to contribute to areas outside your immediate experience.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to execute experiments in an effective and timely manner, reporting progress to senior scientists or study leaders.
- Good attention to detail and excellent standards of data capture.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication as well as good organisational skills.
- Appropriate IT skills including routine use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and other software packages (e.g. GraphPad Prism).
- Highly adaptive and able to work effectively in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to work with a closely interactive team to deliver to tight timelines.
Education and Experience
- BSc (or higher/equivalent) in a life sciences discipline with relevant focus OR equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience working in a microbiology laboratory at containment level 2 is essential, and experience of using a range of methodologies, working with bacteria, fungi or viruses using good microbiological laboratory practices is essential.
- Experience of industry standard antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods (e.g. CLSI and EUCAST)
- Experience of working with the hollow fibre infection model would be advantageous
- Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry or CRO environment would be advantageous although not essential
