Job Description
Join our team at the Perth Airport Laboratory, where you’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of analytical testing. From routine and non-routine analyses to troubleshooting, method development, and staff training, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality and timely results.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Performing a range of chemical analysis on water and soil samples including ICP, IC, FIA, Discrete Analyzers, GC-MS, GC-FID and GC P&T
- Checking and approving of data/results as per NATA and quality requirements.
- Carry out scheduled instrument calibration and detailed maintenance on time.
- Train and mentor new staff in appropriate methods, instrument calibration and maintenance as per NATA and quality requirements.
- Perform investigatory and developmental works in connection with new methods of analysis, improvement of existing methods including validation and instrumentation.
- Involved in continuous improvement projects and initiatives which would improve process flow, productivity, efficiency and safety in the section and/or lab.
- Assist in maintaining a safe working environment in the laboratory, including developing safety initiatives which would enhance safety further.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related discipline with minimum four (4) years of commercial laboratory experience.
- Appropriate experience in in ICP, IC, FIA, Discrete Analyser, GC MS, GC FID, or GC P&T.
- Experience in the operation, optimization, and maintenance of analytical instruments,.
- Previous Management Authorized Signatory experience.
- Ability to demonstrate scientific knowledge relevant to analytical chemistry.
- Experience with NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation and the requirements for a chemical testing laboratory.
- Demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety.
