We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist with expertise in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Immunology. This role will focus on drug discovery in the area of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The successful candidate will drive initiatives and execute on target identification and validation, elucidating drug mechanism of action and molecular basis of disease to support identification and optimization of development candidates. The desired candidate should have substantial experience in cell and molecular biology techniques and strong background in innate and adaptive immune systems, cytokine biology, and immune tolerance. A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently in a matrixed environment as part of a larger team is required.
Key Responsibilities
- This role will be lab based and will use readouts such as flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, imaging, immunoprecipitation, qPCR, RNA-seq, etc. to drive discovery efforts.
- Contribute to initiatives related to identification and validation of new drug targets for inflammatory diseases. Develop therapeutic hypotheses for autoimmune disease(s) based on human genetics, literature discoveries, and in vitro, in vivo, clinical, and translational data.
- Collaborate alongside a cross-functional team that includes immunologists, (computational) chemists, biochemists, in vivo biologists, and transcriptomics and proteomics experts to discover new targets, derive new biological mechanistic insights, and support programs through target identification, validation, lead optimization and candidate delivery.
- Design cross-disciplinary experiments within project teams to enable the progression of therapeutic candidates through the drug discovery pipeline. Work in a highly matrixed team environment.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, record keeping, presentation, collaboration, and organizational skills. Represent Discovery Immunology on program or project (core) teams.
- Travel will be less than 10% of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of academic and / or industry experience
Or
- Master’s Degree
- 3+ years of academic and / or industry experience
Or
- Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences
Qualifications & Experience
- A Ph.D. degree in the field of cell biology, immunology, or related scientific discipline, or MS with more than 3 years of industry experience relevant to job description.
- Expertise in assay development with a variety of cell and molecular biology technologies including flow cytometry, multiplex assay platforms, qPCR, ELISA, MSD and/or imaging is strongly desired.
- A clear track record of scientific accomplishments and evidence of independent thinking and the ability to solve complex scientific problems.
- Strong work ethic, good judgment, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Expertise and hands on experience in CRISPR based gene editing is desired.
- Ability to understand and interpret large multi-dimensional (e.g. multi-OMICs) datasets is strongly desired.
