About the role:
The Center for Biological Innovation (CBI) is a BSC Center of Excellence that utilizes in vitro and ex vivo approaches, such as biochemical, cell-based, microbial, and tissue-based assays to support the design, development and commercialization of BSC products. The successful Scientist II candidate should have appropriate scientific experience to provide the technical support required for conducting and reporting of in vitro biomedical research studies.
This is a hybrid position (in office minimum three days per week) to be located in Marlborough, MA. You will have the opportunity to discuss your preferred working location with your Talent Acquisition Specialist.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting cell-culture based studies, in vitro assays, and hemocompatibility testing of blood contacting devices at the bench
- Developing and executing a broad range of cell-based assays and tissue engineering methods
- Developing in vitro models to evaluate device concepts in multiple therapeutic areas (cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, urological, and oncology).
- Executing on tasks and protocols both independently and with guidance from senior team members
- Summarizing data and assisting with analysis and preparation of data for reporting and presentation
- Optimizing and troubleshooting technical assays and protocols
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records
Required qualifications:
- Minimum Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or Biological Sciences with 3 years professional experience, PhD with 0 years professional experience
- Experience in cell-based assays and analysis required
- Ability to quickly learn new techniques and adapt to in a changing environment
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple aspects of a project simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and on an individual basis
- Results and detail-oriented
Preferred qualifications:
- Preferred PhD in biomedical engineering, or a related field
- Experience in cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, urological or oncology therapeutic areas
- Experience with medical devices or experience in a similar industry
- Previous or current hands-on experience in biomaterial evaluation
- Experience with confocal microscopy and/or advanced imaging techniques
- Experience with CAD/Solidworks design, 3D printing and/or 3D bioprinting
- Comfortable with potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials
