We are looking for an experienced Silicon Development Engineer to join our growing team. We are a Fabless Company working with both University and Commercial Fabs. We produce X-rays by firing electrons from tiny emitters across a high voltage into a target in a vacuum. You will play an active role in developing and optimising existing silicon processes to support transfer from R&D to high-volume manufacturing.
The Company
Medical imaging helps patients by enabling early and accurate diagnosis. However, 2D X-rays can be inconclusive as they give a fundamentally limited view of our 3D bodies. 3D images are possible with CT scanners but these are much more expensive, give a high dose of radiation, and moving a critically ill patient to a scanner can be labour-intensive and risky.
At Adaptix we are helping make 3D imaging more accessible to the people who need it by producing mobile, flat-panel X-ray systems that can be brought to patients giving low-cost, low-dose imaging.
Candidate Profile
As our ideal candidate, you have proven success in developing silicon processes together with a minimum qualification of a degree in the Physical sciences or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Key Responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Working with the Semiconductor Process Engineer and internal Microfabrication Scientists to develop, optimise and execute process recipes
- Support small-scale internal production line as well as production activities with our external fab partners
- Support and strengthen relationships with university lab partners and foster potential research opportunities
- Identify patterns, trends and tool solutions to anticipate potential challenges to volume manufacturing, and develop appropriate solutions and mitigation plans.
- Plans and executes activities in context of quality and risk management and identifies opportunities for process, system and structural improvement
- Support the Semiconductor Process Engineer on device process transfers from University Labs
- Develop and analyse processes, both for implementation and integration of next-gen process modules and for yield improvement activities
- Utilise Design of Experiment and statistical expertise to identify and resolve key process issues
- Support development and optimisation of metrology methodologies and their automation
- Share specialised knowledge, skills and learning with colleagues to support their skills development
- Take ownership for own project work, lead projects and identify and prioritise critical tasks in order to meet project delivery deadlines
- Produce reports detailing evidenced development proposals and support on any Change Control procedures.
- Maintain a safe working environment and follow all protocols to ensure compliance with company and regulatory
- Undertake independent projects on process improvements, design of experiments and implementation
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Skills:
- Strong technical skills including expertise in the development and implementation of silicon wafer fab process improvements
- Takes accountability for the delivery of their own work and supports colleagues to deliver shared company objectives
- Strong communication skills including the ability to report technical and scientific results to stakeholders
- Proactive, results-driven focus with the ability to successfully identify, troubleshoot potential problems to their successful resolution
- Understanding and expertise in Design of Experiment techniques and their statistical relevance
Experience:
- Working in a precision engineering or medical device environment
- Developing concept or pilot process flow proposals for product development and/or research gain.
- Developing silicon process flow improvements
- Working in production scale up environments with a culture of fast decision making
- Successfully setting up design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis
