Overview
We are seeking a cell culture scientist II with 3-5 years of industrial experience in batch, fed-batch and perfusion mammalian cell culture at lab (2-10L) and pilot scales (50-200L).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Perform cell culture and associated analytical assay activities for monoclonal antibody, recombinant protein and viral vector production in batch, fed-batch and perfusion modes using mammalian cell lines in shake flasks, stirred tank and single-use bioreactors.
- Execute protocols and studies to generate application data related to filtration-based perfusion cell culture to support existing technologies and new product development.
- Trouble-shoot cell culture processes by monitoring cell growth, viability, productivity and other cell culture metabolites.
- Issue internal scientific reports and publish articles in peer reviewed and trade journals. Present talks and posters at scientific conferences.
- Actively participate in expanding Repligen’s IP in the field of filtration-based perfusion cell culture applications by submitting invention disclosures.
- Work with other departments including product management, field applications and sales to accomplish individual and company objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- B.S Degree in chemical engineering, biological sciences, or applicable field with at least 5 years or MS with at least 3 years of industrial experience in a process or application development setting.
- Extensive understanding in biological process sciences, upstream process development including aseptic techniques, and cell culture processes.
- Experienced hands-on work setting up lab (2-10L) and pilot (50-200L) scale bioreactors, cultivating cells, and optimizing feeding and perfusion strategies.
- Experience in monoclonal antibody and recombinant protein upstream process development for therapeutic or vaccine applications.
- Demonstrated experience in design of experiments (DoE), strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities and strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external team members.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with ATF technology.
- Experience in viral vector (AAV, Adenovirus, Lentivirus) upstream process development.
- Experience with perfusion cell culture using ATF technology is recommended.
- Understanding of membrane-based filtration including hollow fibers, determining critical flux, shear and TMP measurements.
