Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies is investing £400M to introduce a new, state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility. Known internally as ‘Project Borealis’, this biomanufacturing facility will provide additional Cell Culture and Viral Gene Therapy cGMP manufacturing capacity to the existing Billingham, UK campus and is expected to become operational in 2025.
We currently have opportunties for both entry level and experienced Process Engineers.

Role & Responsibilities
For Project Borealis, there are 2 phases to the role; in phase 1 the successful applicant will join the Borealis project team and contribute to the setup of the facility, participating in preparation activities including CQV activities and new product introduction to ensure Borealis is operationally ready for December 2025.
Once the facility 'goes live' in phase 2, the Process and Graduate Engineers will be responsible for the safe and compliant completion of GMP manufacturing activities, aiding in the delivery of the facility asset plan as part of new product introduction.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Identify and report Key Performance Indicators for process engineering activity.
- Work with other technical engineers to maintain consistent engineering standards and approaches across different FDBK facilities.
- Ensure that engineering work complies with statutory and local Engineering standards and requirements, using own knowledge and the support of site Responsible Persons.
- Conduct SHE and compliance audits to ensure that work instructions are being followed and that excellent SHE performance is achieved.
Qualifications and Experience
- The job holder requires an honours degree or higher qualification in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) - Recognised by the IChemE
- Work experience of the process and or pharmaceutical industry
- Technically competent in biological processes and science including understanding of USP and DSP unit operations
- Experience of identifying hazards and managing risks through assessment of processes and systems
