We are currently looking for a highly motivated organic chemist to join our Encoded Technologies team in Cambridge, MA. GSK is a leader in DNA-encoded library technology, enabling exploration of novel target biology and identification of qualified hits for drug discovery programs. The primary focus of this role is to support the design and synthesis of novel DNA-encoded libraries, to develop new on-DNA reactions, and to drive innovation in our platform. A successful applicant will have an excellent practical and theoretical understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and can design and execute high quality, thoughtful experiments, while making significant contributions both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Subject to approval of reasonable request, GSK is a modern employer and offers flexible working hours and conditions.
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Design and synthesize novel, high-quality DNA-encoded libraries within a team
- Develop and optimize new DNA compatible reactions that can be employed in the production of DNA-encoded libraries
- Drive innovation in our platform as part of our multidisciplinary team
- Communicate key results and enable data driven decision making
- Share in responsibilities to support general lab functions
- Contribute to writing and conceptual framework of publications, presentations and patents when appropriate
- Establish and maintain a detailed knowledge of literature related to areas of research
Success in GSK thrives on strong interpersonal and practical chemistry skills combined with a curious, inquisitive nature and a passion for science. You are equally passionate about developing yourself, developing new scientific methods, pushing the limits of innovation, and learning something new every day. You are an excellent team player, able to work with others both in the lab and the office as well as within matrix teams. You are independent and able to plan and execute your own workload and deliver results. Your science is conducted with integrity, safety, and to the highest standards. You pride yourself in your chemistry and enjoy science as much as we do.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry or equivalent industrial experience.
- Experience with state-of-the-art synthetic chemistry techniques and excellent problem-solving skills.
