We are looking for an experienced Process Safety Consultant with broad process design experience to join our Ireland team which serves the wider global Business Units across PM Group.
The successful candidate will enjoy working on multiple large-scale projects in the Irish and international markets across a number of sectors, including mainly the Life Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing sectors. Depending on the successful candidates’ preference, this opportunity can be permanent or on a contract basis. The successful candidate can work from our Cork or Dublin offices.
Responsibilities To be successful in this role, candidates must be able and competent to independently lead and deliver the majority of the following process safety deliverables to appropriate regulatory standards and guidelines:
- Chairing Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), e.g., HAZID, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), LOPA (i.e. SIL), etc. reviews
- Writing an Explosion Protection Document (EPD)
- Generating a Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) – ATEX/DSEAR assessment
- Completing Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), i.e., Seveso (COMAH)/Safety Report Preparation
- Consequence Modelling, i.e., Toxic Dispersion/Fire/Explosion Modelling. DNV-Phast software knowledge is an advantage
- Executing Process Safety Calculations e.g. Pressure Relief Device (PRD) / Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) Sizing
- Generating project Basis of Safety (BoS) report
- Dealing directly with client representatives, equipment vendors and multidiscipline engineering colleagues to obtain the required information and to resolve process safety issues.
Qualifications We would be interested in hearing from candidates who have the following experience:
- Degree qualification in Process/Chemical engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Status
- Minimum 15 years’ experience, with over 20 years preferred, in process design, working on PFDs, P&IDs, Equipment sizing and PRD calculations.
- Excellent awareness of process safety engineering and process safety management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication & leadership skills essential.
- Excellent knowledge of Irish and EU health & safety legislation
- Design experience with clients, standards & legislation from Europe and the USA is an advantage.
