Role Description

The Global Engineering organization is responsible for Real Estate and Facilities Management, Reliability & Maintenance, Capital Project & Portfolio Management, Process Automation, Energy & Utility Systems as well as Engineering & Technology for the end-to-end Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS) network. Our goal is to engineer, build and maintain innovative and reliable systems and solutions enabling our business to best serve our customers.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Global Engineering, the Platform Lead, Reliability & Maintenance owns the development of the strategy, key initiatives and rituals & routines for all primary maintenance functions including Facility / Utility, Packaging and Production Maintenance as well as Maintenance Services and Asset & Strategic Parts Management for all internal manufacturing sites globally.

The successful candidate will partner with the Operations Lead and plant managers for the assigned sites within their platform to build and execute Maintenance master plans and roadmaps, repair and maintenance (R&M) budgets, technical skills and competencies consistent with World Class asset management and execution excellence.

As the senior most Maintenance leadership position within Global Manufacturing & Supply, the successful candidate will be accountable for building capability in People, Process and Systems to optimize total cost of ownership and asset availability, lifetime and integrity. Holding a critical leadership position within Global Engineering, you will model the extreme ownership mindset in professional and personal development.

This site-based role may be located at U.S. corporate headquarters (Parsippany NJ) OR at any global Zoetis manufacturing site.

SCOPE OF JOB:

Responsible and accountable for establishing a clear organizational vision and strategy. Conduct assessments and benchmarking to identify, shape and lead site and network initiatives to improve performance and results.

Lead the development of the platform asset replacement strategy incorporating the endorsed output into the Site Master Plan and Capital plan. Serve in Technical Peer Reviews to promote right first-time project delivery at optimal Total Cost of Ownership.

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and related governance to measure and control performance against established targets. Promote identifying and sharing standard work and best practices to fast-track adoption and sustainability throughout the platform and overall network.

Build and maintain relationships and agreements with external vendors and service providers to ensure appropriate service levels and timely, cost-effective maintenance solutions. Develop and coordinate programs and practices that drive spare parts standardization and optimization.

In close cooperation with the Head of Digital Manufacturing, identify and implement new, advanced technologies (e.g., AI-based predictive analytics, IoT, CMMS) to optimize maintenance operations, reduce costs, and improve asset performance.

Engage, inspire, and coach peers and team members to achieve organizational goals and employee development and professional growth. Assess competency levels to develop and implement training programs. Build a pipeline of talent and robust succession plans for key positions.

May supervise direct reports. Will have indirect relationships with site reliability and maintenance personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required. Advanced degree (i.e. MBA) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in maintenance, reliability engineering, or asset management roles in a regulated environment, ideally within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industries is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory / people management experience with demonstrated success in performance management and development.
  • Certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional, Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals), CRL (Certified Reliability Leader, Association of Asset Management Professionals) is preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale maintenance transformations, including the adoption of predictive maintenance strategies, and advanced technologies (e.g., IoT, AI, machine learning) for asset management is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with the development and monitoring of metrics and KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, downtime, maintenance costs) and driving continuous improvements based on data insights is required.
  • Deep knowledge of current Life Science industry Quality standards (i.e. GMP) and practices complying with global regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA) as well as environmental, health and safety regulations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with and / or managing geographically dispersed teams is preferred.
  • Proficient in English language - writing, speaking and understanding is required.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, plan and organize.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of projects at one time and bring them to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the department, all levels of other departments, regulatory agencies, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Developed knowledge of PQSs, validation and CGMPs.
  • Solid knowledge of Maintenance processes including procedures, staffing, and processes
  • Solid knowledge of financial and budgeting processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance systems including Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and spare parts management

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently.
  • Must be comfortable working in varying temperatures.
  • Lifting and carrying of 5 to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Regular reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, and twisting.
  • Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Travel may be required.
