The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Control Team Leader to lead the Raw Materials team in our QC laboratory at the Barnstaple manufacturing site. This role will be instrumental in supporting the general day to day management of our QC lab including making sure testing is carried out in accordance to the agreed schedule, ensuring that current and future GMP requirements are met.
In this varied role, you’ll manage a team of laboratory analysts responsible for the analysis of Raw Materials and Packaging Components, working closely with other departments to understand production requirements, prioritising workloads and delegating tasks across your team to provide batches for release in line with Manufacturing and Packing plans. Working collaboratively with the Senior QC Team Leader, you will oversee and maintain all Health and Safety requirements in the laboratory and when deviations occur, you’ll action and close CAPAs and Change Controls in an effective and timely manner within the site Quality Management System (QMS).
With strong understanding of EU and FDA legislation and to ensure quality levels are maintained, you’ll provide support in internal audits and inspections, conducting trend and root cause analysis to recommending corrective and preventative actions, always driving continuous improvement.
The Person
- Significant experience in a similar QC Management role within a pharmaceutical GMP compliant quality control laboratory.
- Practical experience in managing a QC Laboratory and the principle techniques e.g. HPLC, GC, titrations, IR spectroscopy and Ph. Eur. testing.
- Strong people management and leadership skills are essential for this role; experience of managing, motivating and developing a team.
- Excellent communication skills – happy relating to people of all levels, navigating cultural differences and using subtle negotiating and influencing skills to get the best outcomes.
- Strong organisation skills, able to manage multiple tasks to deadline and maintain a good eye for detail even in a fast-paced and changeable work environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and a good understanding of quality management systems (QMS) with the ability to analyse data and reports in order to make decisions
- HNC/HND/Degree level qualification in a Science related subject, however significant relevant experience would also be considered.
